Capping off ArtSFest 2005 – the Bay Area’s most eclectic annual celebration of the arts (May 5-30) – is the ArtSFest 2005 Arts Expo Gala. The night includes:
* An exhibition of works from over 50 emerging artists, curated by Start SOMA Gallery, Gallery Culture, ArtworkSF, Gen Art, Institute for Unpopular Culture and Aesthetic Scientist;
* The first ever ArtSFest Lifetime Achievement Award tribute to Rene di Rosa, founder of the di Rosa Preserve – one of the most influential figures in the Northern California art scene since the 1960’s. Phil Bronstein, Editor, San Francisco Chronicle, will present the award;
* The ArtSFest Emerging Arts Awards, recognizing local groundbreakers in visual arts, performing arts, music, film, literature and more;
* Eclectic entertainment from Bay Area favorites: Killing My Lobster (Sketch Comedy), Marc Bamuthi Joseph (Hip Hop Theater), Zoe Keating (Electronic Cello), Groovus (Funk), Sutro (Sultry Jazz), and One People Voice Company (Balinese Processional Orchestra);
* Plus a silent auction of works donated by participating artists, and an arts resource expo featuring services for the arts community.
About ArtSFest:
ArtSFest is a non-profit organization that champions arts across the San Francisco Bay Area by connecting arts presenters with new audiences and members of the arts community to one another. By engaging media, community partners and businesses through sponsorship opportunities and public relations initiatives, we present an opportunity for artists and organizations to increase their impact on the community.
