On Saturday, April 16th from 10am-3pm, YCS will be hosting an event titled "Play at the Bay: 2nd Annual YCS Family Service Day" (FSD), it is held in celebration of National Youth Service Day. The event, designed to bring together Palo Alto and EPA communities, will be held at the Palo Alto Baylands Athletic Center (1900 Geng Rd., Palo Alto), and we will have 4-5 family friendly on-site service projects that participants can volunteer at for one hour increments. They will range from art projects with seniors, habitat restoration, community education/flyering, a mural project, and more. The event is FREE and open to the public. While at the event, people
can eat food, visit the resource fair (with around 40 community groups represented from both Palo Alto and East Palo Alto), play in the Kidz Zone, win raffle prizes, and enjoy service projects.
If you are interested in being more involved, we're always looking for an extra set of hands! We definitely will need people to help set up/break down the event, supervise service projects, drive vans, help at the info booth, serve food, etc... the list goes on. If you and anyone you know
would like to help out, that would be wonderful! It is a quick and fun way to earn up to 7 hours of community service, and it's an opportunity to network with a variety of people and groups from the mid-peninsula and around the Bay Area.
We are also looking for groups who would be interested in selling food at our event as a fundraiser for their organization! We area also still accepting booth hosts for the resource fair.
For more information on the event, please visit the website at http://www.youthcommunityservice.org or call (650) 617-8962.
If you or someone you know are interested in volunteering for the event, please contact me at
