Who is Bay Area Vegetarians?

Established in October 2001, we are a 100% volunteer, no fees, plant-powered organization with over 1500 members throughout the Bay Area and even a few abroad.  Our mission is to connect and support the local vegetarian and animal rights community and help it grow.

What types of activities does BAV do?

Unlike many organizations with "vegetarian" in their name, we offer a wide range of activities, from purely social events like monthly dinners to hikes to camping trips, as well as educational events -- lectures and workshops, community outreach, and advocacy events, like KFC protests and letter writing parties

With thanks to our strong volunteer base, we have over 15 events happening every month, throughout the Bay Area.

Why do we offer free membership to our group?

Because we want the local veg community to be accessible to everyone, and we have a strong volunteer base. We invite you to be an active part of our community. Click here to see our events page for upcoming events, or learn about volunteer opportunities.

Join us... help us plant the seeds for compassion and good health in the Bay Area!
