The Center for Young Women's Development
Lateefah Simon has been the Executive Director of the Center for Young Women’s
Development for the past 8 years — since she was 19 years old. Under her leadership,
CYWD has developed one of the first peer-run education, employment, and community
reintegration programs for system-involved young women. CYWD’s programs have gained
national and international recognition. Lateefah is also a prominent public speaker,
highly influential youth advocate, and well known expert on women’s issues and
juvenile justice. She has inspired thousands of people across the country with her
powerful analysis, intense energy, and deep commitment to social justice. We will
miss her tremendously!
