Oaklanders To Protest Curfew Plan At Jerry Brown's Loft

parolees and probationers under 10 pm curfew

CONTACT:
Sitara Nieves, Critical Resistance, 510-444-0484
Linda Evans, All of Us or None, 510-219-0297

WHAT: Community Protest / Photo Opportunities/ Street Theater
WHEN: Wednesday, January 26th, 9:30 PM,
10:00 PM Press Conference
WHERE: Old Sear's Building, 27th and Telegraph
WHO: Critical Resistance, All of Us or None, Oakland Community members

WHY:
Jerry Brown continues to scapegoat parolees and probationers for Oakland's problems as he runs for Attorney General. His newest campaign strategy is to impose a curfew on Oaklanders on parole or probation - arresting them if they leave their house after 10 p.m.

The curfew is the latest in a long line of attacks on people trying to successfully re-unite with their families and neighborhoods after serving time in tortuous prison conditions.

Protestors will "cite" Mayor Jerry Brown for failing to meet the
conditions of his Mayoral position, and for scapegoating and persecuting former prisoners in order to meet his political aspirations.

This action is led by Critical Resistance, an Oakland-based grassroots organization working for genuine safety in Oakland, and All of Us or None, a national organizing initiative of prisoners, former prisoners and felons, to combat the many forms of discrimination that former prisoners face as the result of felony convictions.
