Coalition for Justice in the Middle East Presents

The Peril of America's Middle East Policies

with 22-year Republican U.S. congressman
Paul Findley
Tuesday, Jan 25th, 7:00 PM, Stanford University, Bldg. 420-040
(Psychology Building- Jordan Hall)

A 22 year veteran of the U.S. Congress, Paul Findley (R-IL) is most
remembered for speaking out against the powerful pro-Israeli lobby,
which was ranked by Fortune Magazine as the #2 strongest lobby in the
U.S. and has been described as "the 700 pound gorilla in Washington",
and its role in driving U.S. foreign policy. As a Congressman, he also
led the fact-finding mission on the USS Liberty, which was attacked by
Israel in the 1967 Arab-Israeli War, and, in 1978, met former
Palestinian Authority President and PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat and
received one of the first written statements denouncing violence and
dedicating the struggle to a state in the occupied territories
alongside Israel. Paul Findley has written many books including "They
Dare to Speak Out: People and Institutions Confront Israel's Lobby",
"Deliberate Deceptions: Facing the Facts About the U.S.-Israeli
Relationship", founded The Council for the National Interest, a
non-partisan grassroots organization that advocates a new direction for
U.S. Middle East policy, and has appeared on numerous programs
including NBC's Meet the Press, The Today Show, and CNN Crossfire.

On January 25, Mr. Findley will speak about the history of America's
failures in the Middle East and the effects of its misguided foreign
policy in fomenting 'The War on Terrorism'. He will describe the
powerful interests on both sides of the Congressional aisle that drive
one-sided policy and will provide a practical solution to winning the
'War on Terrorism' and restoring America's reputation worldwide.
