Anti-choice demonstration in San Francisco

by Sarah Olson (solson75 [at] yahoo.com)
As President Bush begins his second term in office, the religious right has declared a mandate for its continued support from the government. It is within this context that anti-choice demonstrators marched in famously pro-choice San Francisco this Saturday on the anniversary of Roe vs. Wade, the Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion. While the anti-choice message often pretended solidarity with civil rights and feminist movements, the thousands of pro-choice responders rejected the notion of a kinder and more inclusive anti-choice movement.

The right-wing got strong because the proogressives are all over the place. No political arm for these movements means no political power to stop the right.
The traditional left is not to be counted on. In South America, the political left was ineffective so the people just ignore it and they organize themselves in community assemblies and the block the highways... Eventually they will have to organize a political arm (one that answers only to the grass-roots).
Womyn need to do the same. Their marches for the last 50 years have only led them backwards- they are losing all their hard-won gains because the right-wing is organized effectively. It's time to take power to do away with patriarchal power. We then can give birth to a new world.
No political organization, no long term gains!
We stop consuming on a mass scale...corporate fascists go broke.
For the sake of all womyn and the planet -ORGANIZE and stop begging for crumbs.

Yes! Our traditional left told us to vote for pro-occupation, pro-'free' trade, anti-Hugo Chavez, anti-Castro, anti-Kyoto, pro-apartheid-Israel Kerry!: from the OTHER wholly corporate-own-&-operated, military-industiral complex, bought-&-sold-out party. In the meantime, our traditional left told us to not have anymore anti-war rallies, demos and marches - or do anything else leftist - for a year because it would make Kerry look bad. Is that sorry-ass or what?
