He had some sort of a proclamation from the Assembly but I didn\'t catch what it was. He listed some statistics about women and abortion that were quite good- hopefully someone has audio or video of that. Mark Leno really knows how to work the crowd- rather impressive

she is from the Women's Choices Clinic- she spoke about being on the frontlines of the struggle to defend abortion. She held up an example of a can that was collecting funds for clinics that provide access to abortions. (funds were also collected to pay for this rally)

well im glad to see that you all feel so confetable talking about how great you did at the rally on saturday when there's no one there to oppose this. people were LAUGHING at you. we thought you were funny, no one really took you seriously. you all think that you did so great acttacking the little kids, but i didnt see any of you going fot the adults in the group. well its nice to see that you've found the easy targets. well u made one mistake when you went for your " easy targets " see you took me as one of them and well im sorry to say, i wasnt one of them. all you did was conferm what i thought about u to begin with, that your horrible hateful people. but you know what, those of you ( there were very few) that acted like civilzed adults while you were protesting, i completly respect you. i remember one man and his wife inperticular that smiled at me and said hi. they didnt say it in a mean way either, and even though i will never agree with them, i will always remember them and respect their point of view. but those of you who think that all we are are some crazy christians i will never respect. you think you're winning the fight, but you're not. i hate to break that to you because im sure that you were probably under the impression that you were, but your not. what do u think people voter for in the passed election? they voted for morals! not the war or the economy. people want to see the end of abortion and they relate to the presidents christian values. not only do they relate to them, they respect them even if they arent christian, which is something i thing many of you need to learn to do. only 12 percent thought that John Kerry had good morals. one of his speachs he talked about how he would fight to keep from adolesents having to get parental permission for abortions, and he believed 100% in partial birth abortion and would do anything to keep it legal. now why i ask you do you think that 88% of the united stated disagrees with him morals? i the fact that he calls himself a catholic with him views sickens me. you cant be for abortioon and catholic. so the people with the "catholic and pro-chioce" signs should remeber that next time they show up for church. peace and God bless you all

Where are the pictures of my sisters marching? WHat is this glorification of the lime-light seekers? This is the problem we sisters have - mostly middle class university women who beg men for token positions at the top of the cesspool's hierarchy.Once at the top, they just talk and talk...
SIsters,
Stop begging, get up from under and start organizing a womyn's political arm to dismantle the violent male world. We have the power yet we don't use it effective for the benefit of the planet. 50 years of marching has led us no where - it's only benefited the few privileged women - who end up kissing ass and on their knees. (shame on them!)

We are half of the sky but we are still under the patriarch's boot!

Time to move ahead before it's too late. Fuck the personality cult!

Excellent point!

Enough star-struck celebrityism!

A lot of those comfortable token star women that the grassroots got to those high/status positions used to indirectly _scoff_ at grassroots women - counterculture, grunge, punks, goths, dykes, butch, toughs, working-class, poor, etc. - getting out there and actually assertively defending clinics from, or sisters walking the gauntlet of, male Christian fanatics. This was because the stars and icons didn't think the grassroots women looked _"respectable"_ or photogenic enough with their vintage or black clothes, nose rings, red hair, boots, chains, etc.! They thought that the grassroots women who were actually ready to go out there and directly defend clinic access looked to "radical": not good for the newspaper & newsmagazine photos. _Now_ look where we're at! The token stars (whose daughters will always have access to abortions even if they have to fly them to Europe) have largely abandoned fighting for poor, small town, or rural women's access (where the right-wing has steadily chipped away) to family planning or abortion services.
