J22- SF says "Born-again bigots, go away!"

by SUN
By 11:30 AM on Saturday, Jan. 22, pro-choice and anti-fascist demonstrators were marching
down Market Street, toward the Embarcadero.

The SF marchers were chanting:

"Pro-life" -- your name's a lie!
You don't care if women die!

Pray by day, bomb by night--
That's the motto of "pro-life".

Racist, sexist, antigay --
Born-again bigots, go away!

Comment:
Tho I wasn't present when the two demos met,
this AP report sounds to me like
"the kulturkampf of San Francisco"
(SF Bay Area progressives jeering at fascist marchers,
many of whom came from the Central Valley)...

I wonder if jeering at them is wise?

Is there a danger of making these fascists LOOK (falsely) like persecuted underdogs?

The pro-abortion (pro-choice) organizers
warned progressives
to avoid excessive hostility on Jan. 22.

In a leaflet distributed at
the first rally of the day (10am),
they wrote:

"....Please do your part
to make sure
that we have a peaceful protest
by not fighting
or engaging in heated confrontation...."

Clearly they foresaw that some true-blues,
recently rubbed raw by Bush's arrogant inauguration,
would be furious
when fascist marchers invaded our blue town.
