SF court weighs equality versus tradition

by SUN
Preserving "tradition"? How about ancient traditions of slavery, torture, witch-burning, male supremacy, racism, and government control of religion?
Please read SF Chronicle report (D23) on
SF marriage arguments:

http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2004/12/23/MNGM3AGB3B1.DTL

........
On Wednesday (Dec. 22), SF Superior Court Judge Kramer
heard arguments about same-sex marriage.
He hears more on Thursday (D23, today).

He's also asking for written arguments
to be filed by 14 January 2005.

After that date, he'll have 90 days to issue his written decision --
that is, until approximately mid-April.
No matter how he rules,
at least one side will appeal.

Perhaps the case will reach the
California Supreme Court
by late 2005 or early 2006?

On the theme of preserving tradition,
an attorney pointedly reminded everyone that
slavery was a long-standing tradition,
in its time.
