Despite the fact that we suffered a large fare increase for San Francisco buses and trains (SF Muni Railway or Muni) just over 1 year ago, we are again threatened with a fare increase from $1.25 to $1.75 with admittedly no increase in service. We need your protests now to demand that the large Financial District Corporations pay a profits tax to Muni and to oppose any fare increase. The rich, who make over $125,000 a year in San Francisco and/or reside in San Francisco, can pay a city income tax of 1% to help our city survive and the profitable large Financial District corporations can pay a profit tax to do the same. All public transit systems are mostly subsidized with our tax dollars, not fares, and a loud clear demand must be made to the federal legislators from San Francisco to obtain more federal funds for our public transportation system, without which San Francisco cannot exist.
