"This Is What Free Trade Looks Like" explains how how free trade operates, from the perspective of the Mexican experience with ten years of NAFTA. Activists and scholars authoritatively condemn free trade as a solution to poverty and discuss the impacts on farmers, workers, youth, and immigrants. Shot in Cancún, México on the occasion of the fifth WTO ministerial in September 2003, the film contextualizes the growing international resistance to free trade policies. Features music from the streets of Cancún.
The film will be followed by an open discussion led by Jesse Swanhuyser, Director of the California Coalition for Fair Trade and Human Rights.
Suggested donation $5 to $10; sponsored by Peninsula Peace and Justice Center, World Centric, and Peace Umbrella of Unitarian Universalist Church of Palo Alto.
