Food Not Bombs Venice/ SantaMonica/ L.A./ Valley/LongBeach
Former houseless person/amatauer photographer captures stills of L.A. humanity
For the past two months I've been helping with the venice/santa monica FoodNotBombs... I started when a rock against racist type group has emerged founded by Tom Morello and Serj Tankian (rockstars :) this group (axisofjustice.org) wants to help... (COMMUNIST!!!!) okay just kidding...but really they have money and a heart... very rare combination.... we're trying to network (talk) to other groups... the FNB in the valley serves food on the steps of the courthouse... we serve on the venice boardwalk and the santamonica pier... the santa cruz HUFF site really inspired me and gave ideas.... The couple that organize our FNB currently tries to get the homeless their due benefits from their years in the service... plus legal assistance stuff... maybe we could network(talk)... with HUFF... (not inbed)
thanks for all you're doing... keep up the good (and bad) work...

PS-the website http://proletariat.greatnow.com has recent pics of lots of protests and FNB events locally... enjoy...

That was one of our first banners! It is a bit more faded now. The Venice/Santa Monica chapter of Food Not Bombs is still going strong and feeding on Sundays on the Venice Boardwalk. We just started a new group on WiserEarth at http://www.wiserearth.org/group/VeniceFoodNotBombs where you can join and you can see a few pictures posted there. Our Justice Committee is also going strong and, in fact, we just hosted a Venice Town Hall on Homelessness and Criminalization at the Venice United methodist Church with Gary Basi, Carol Sobel, and Bob Erlenbusch. That was amazing and we are editing the video and other video to posting on our Justice Committee web site, where you can also see some important local poverty issues highlighted at http://www.justice.wetnostril.net
