Film: "Brothers & Others"/Racism against Arabs, South Asians, and Muslims

We will be showing the documentary "Brothers & Others," which deals with the post-9/11 racism against Arabs, South Asians, and Muslims in America. Then we will have a discussion forum dealing with institutionalized and societal racism, in America and in the Muslim "Third World," against these groups. Many issues will be discussed, including the effects of the Patriot Act, racially-based illegal detentions, rampant hate crimes, stereotyping and dehumanization in the media, and the racist effects of imperialism and colonialism (including the "war on terror").
