"War Crimes and Misdemeanors: A Look at the Coming Year"
Paul George, Director, Peninsula Peace and Justice Center

Recent U.S. atrocities in Fallujah -- hospital bombings, executions, indiscriminate targeting of civilian areas, denying access to aid workers -- have been met with calm acceptance on the part of most of the mainstream media and the American public. It’s a war zone, we’re told. These things happen.

With an administration in the White House that considers international law “quaint,” George asks, what can we expect in the coming year? What will happen in Iraq? Can an occupied country hold a fair election? Where will the Bush administration strike next -- Iran? Syria? North Korea? And what about the war at home -- what can the people of the U.S. expect? A new draft, social security and Medicare cuts, further industry deregulation, new threats to our civil liberties... Nothing is out of the question.

Free and open to the public. The program will be broadcast live on Mid-Peninsula Media Cable Channel 27 and rebroadcast on Channels 27 and 30 throughout December. It is part of the ongoing “Other Voices” television series produced by Peninsula Peace and Justice Center.
