Madonna urges Bush, Blair to embrace Kabbalah

London: George W. Bush and Tony Blair might beg to differ, but pop queen Madonna thinks that if the two study Kabbalah, they would make better leaders and also improve their outlook on the world, especially in light of their handling of the Iraq war.

According to Femalefirst, when asked by CNN what she would like to change, she replied, "To get George Bush to study Kabbalah. Yes, it would be amazing."

When CNN host Richard Quest suggested, "And maybe Tony Blair could join him?" she responded, "That's a very good idea."

the so-called kabbalah that mcdonna learns is a bizarre, very untraditional (that is, not recognized by the jewish tradition) amalgam of christian and new age bullshit with a jewish wrapping. the leaders of the cult, called "the kabbalah centre", are routinely denounced by authentic jewish teachers as charlatans and fakers. this cult has made itself a sweet counter-presence in hollywood and among non-hollywood celebrities to that other load of horseshit, the "church of scientology". is it just a coincidence that actors and performers--the mirrors of a fetishized commodity culture, with virtually no content of their own--turn to such pre-packaged salvation? it's costly too. kabbalah water bottles go for upwards of three to eight bucks. it's tap water with a fake rabbi mumbling some arcane (and most likely totally made up) formula for healing/protection. and don't forget the all-important red-string bracelets...
