SALINAS, Calif. Drug charges have been dismissed against a man who claimed
he was growing marijuana for medical use.
Fifty-two-year-old John Pendo spent 80 days in jail because he couldn't
post bail after his April arrest.
Officers raided his property in Moss Landing and found 58 marijuana plants.
Prosecutors alleged he intended to sell the pot but Pendo said he had a
doctor's recommendation and was growing it to relieve chronic leg pain.
Yesterday, a prosecutor said he was recommending the charges be dismissed.
