BOOM! The Sound of Eviction

This documentary takes stock of the dot-com boom and bust and asks the question - Who benefited? Boom delves into the ironies and contradictions of the "New Economy" and delivers a potent social critique that is ambitious in its scope while remaining close to the human scale. Boom features interviews with dot-com workers, real estate developers, and San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, as well as those who challenged the new economic order through community organizing, electoral politics, and direct action.

Este documento historico presenta el impacto que tuvo la explosión cibernética en San Francisco enfocándose en el Distrito Latino de la Misíon, y pregunta- ¿A quien beneficio? “Boom” examina las contradicciones de la “Nueva Economía”, y da un crítica social fuerte: aunque es ambiciosa en su visión, se acerca a la realidad humana. “Boom” contiene entrevistas con trabajadores de las cibernéticas, negociantes de bienes raices, ex-Alcalde de San Francisco (Willie Brown), y con muchas personas y grupos quienes enfrentaron el nuevo orden económico por medio de la organización comunitaria, esfuerzos electorales, y acción directa.
