Traffic congestion got you seeing red? Oakland's first CarFree Day is a green light for alternatives to driving. This transportation/smart growth fair will show how to drive less today and how to keep rebuilding cities for people, not cars. Come jump on the bandwagon! Music, prizes, refreshments, press conference.

Information will be displayed by a broad representation of organizations that provide services, make policy and build projects that encourage using public transit, carpooling, vanpooling, bicycling, walking, telecommuting and smart growth. Less car-dependent living has many benefits, including decreased traffic congestion, better air quality, more free time, better health and less sprawl.

Organized by the City of Oakland and a committee of transit agencies and nonprofit groups. Sponsors include Amalgamated Transit Union 1555, Forest City Enterprises, Sierra Club, Enterprise Rideshare, and WageWorks, Inc.
