The Mary TallMountain Circle invites you to a great benefit event and party for the Tenderloin Reflection & Education Center and Freedom Voices in celebration and remembrance of the late poet, author and founder Mary TallMountain.
Twenty-two years ago the reflection center was founded by a band of activists inspired by Latin American liberation theologians and educators such as--Paulo Freire and Ernesto Cardenal. The Tenderloin Reflection & Education Center continues this tradition, inspiring art, music, writing and song.
Sunday, September 26th we will celebrate the mysteries, sorrows and joys of witness in a wounded and blessed world.
Ten years ago the TallMountain Circle honored Mary's passing, some of us witnessing a swirl of crystalline energy spiraling into the 4th floor ceiling of St. Boniface Neighghborhood center.
Fifth-teen years ago Freedom Voices published its first book, Man Offbeat by Rhett Stuart. It was soon followed by Mary's A Quick Brush of Wings, and a few years later Listen to the Night.
Join us for this special day of food, fun, poetry & prose readings. Kathleen Moore--Transit Dance Company--will stage a free creative dance and movement.
Keynote Speaker: Father Louis Vitale, O.F.M.
Video: American Encounters...
Workshops: Art w/Kat Krieger
Writing w/Ben Clark
Readings: Ben Clarke, Kitty Castello, TJ. Johnson, Janice King, Harriett Kirk, Virginia Maher, Margot Pepper, J.R., Eric Robertson, Rhett Stuart, Geoge Wynn
