Demonstration against the enormous toll of the US war on Iraq!

Tuesday, September 14
12:00 1:30 pm
Sather Gate

37,000 Iraqi civilians dead
1,006 US soldiers dead
$130 billion wasted
---------------------------

The 1000th US casualty in the war on Iraq happened last Tuesday,
marking a grim milestone in this war for empire.

Join the Berkeley Stop the War Coalition in a demonstration
highlighting the enormous and unacceptable cost of the US war on Iraq
and the subsequent occupation.

The cost of the war and occupation is being borne by poor and working
people, both in Iraq and America, while the people at the top of this
country line their pockets with corporate contracts and profits. The
occupation of Iraq has little to do with liberation and expanding
democracy, and far more to do with oil and expanding US power in the
Middle East. This demonstration will highlight the cost of empire and
call for an end to the occupation of Iraq.

People are encouraged to bring signs or visual displays. Come by the
demonstration to find out how to get involved in the movement to bring
the troops home.
