The 108.1-mile men’s race, and the 51.6 mile women’s race, starts and finishes on the Embarcadero, near San Francisco’s famous Ferry Building. From the Start/Finish line, the course winds through North Beach. Halfway through the 8.8-mile circuit, the flatlands along the beautiful bay give way to the grueling climb up Fillmore Street. Then the riders will race through Russian Hill, back through North Beach via the punishing Taylor Street climb and back to the Embarcadero.
The 2004 T-MOBILE INTERNATIONAL, presented by BMC Software will bring five-time Tour de France winner, Lance Armstrong, his U.S. Postal Service team and an international field of over 120 of the world’s best professional cyclists to the streets of San Francisco for the ultimate test of man and machine. For the second year in a row, an elite field of international female cyclists will compete on the same course as the men in the T-MOBILE INTERNATIONAL, presented by BMC Software women’s pro race.
