ESW National Conference. Engineers for a Sustainable World aims to
mobilize engineers to address the challenges of global poverty and
sustainability. In this 2nd annual conference, participants will have
opportunities to:
* learn from world leaders about the intersection of engineering,
enterprise, and sustainable development.
* network with other socially and environmentally aware engineers,
scientists, entrepreneurs, and non-profit professionals
* build inspiration and motivation to facilitate activism in their
home organizations and communities.
Sessions themes include: water and health, information and communication
technology for development, the built environment, energy in a resource
scarce world, business at the base of the pyramid, and engineering
and business education.
A few highlighted keynotes include:
- William McDonough, "Hero for the planet", Time Magazine 1999
- Patricia Galloway, President of the American Society of Civil Engineers
- Barbara Waugh, Co-Founder of Hewlett Packard's World eInclusion
- Jeffrey Sachs, Special Advisor to UN Secretary General on the
Millennium Development Goals
Over 400 attendees are expected from throughout the U.S. and
abroad, amongst them: professional engineers, faculty, students,
business leaders, nonprofit groups, and government agencies.
