At this free community forum, well-known local peace activist Paul George will survey the current political landscape of the U.S. in a talk entitled “Orwell was an Optimist.” George is the Director of Peninsula Peace and Justice Center and is on the Coordinating Committee of the National Grassroots Peace Network.

Tracing the rise of the radical right from the time of Nixon through today, George will explain how U.S. politics is coming more and more to resemble an Orwellian world, with constant warfare, propaganda as a means of social control, and ever-shrinking civil liberties.

The program will be broadcast live on Mid-Peninsula Cable and taped for rebroadcast on Channels 27 and 28 throughout July. It is part of the ongoing “Other Voices” television series produced by Peninsula Peace and Justice Center.
