Intersection’s series focusing on local independent publishing houses continues with two presses committed to publishing works covering California history and culture and authors whose work transcend traditional academic boundaries. Heyday Books (est. 1974) features art historian Mark Johnson and nonfiction author Kimi Kodani Hill and the University of California Press (est. 1893) features labor writer David Bacon and evolutionary biologist Joan Roughgarden.
