"Marriage, Anything Less Is Less Than Equal"

Join us on Tuesday, May 25th from 9:00a.m. to 11:00a.m. as the
California
Supreme Court hears oral argument on the lawsuit filed by Atty General
Bill
Lockyer against Mayor Newsom and the City of SF for issuing marriage
licenses to
same-sex couples. The validity of our 4,068 civil marriage licenses
hang in the
balance. Please join us at 300 McAllister St (right next door to SF
City Hall
in Civic Center) on the steps. We will have signs, feel free to come in
wedding garb, bring a copy of your marriage license, bring your family
and friends
and we will listen together to the attys arguing the case. Hope to see
you
there.

Dear friends,

How will we be able to hear the two hours of oral arguments,
while we're outdoors?

Will somebody bring a radio or a portable TV?
Or a portable computer to receive the audocast online??

Here's a photo of the vigil, by SCOTT SOMMERDORF of the San Francisco Chronicle, downloaded from sfgate.com

.........
I'm posting it here so I can explain the face-painting in this photo.

On the visible side of a young woman's face, the photo shows a peace symbol; on the other side of her face, not seen here, she wears an equality symbol (the mathematical = sign).
I brought blue tempera paint and a brush to the sidewalk vigil.
I asked her to paint peace and equality symbols on my face, and she kindly did so. Then she let me paint the same symbols on her face.

In the photo, she and others are on the sidewalk outside the California Supreme Court building in SF, watching live telecasts of oral arguments occurring inside the building. From where this vigil is being held, one can see the SF City Hall, where the "Winter of Love" happened in February and March.

I plan to bring paint to future peace marches, Pride events, and various public events.
