Several Bay Area CISPES activists returned recently from an historic presidential election in El Salvador. Come for an evening of:
*Slides and photos of labor leaders, women’s rights leaders, elections observing and electoral fraud in action!
*Hear accounts of US intervention in El Salvador’s democratic process, of social movement work that continues to fight privatization and CAFTA (The Central America Free Trade Agreement), and of the airport detentions and deportations of observers that happened in clear violation of international law.
*Inspirational accounts of the popular struggle on behalf of the people of El Salvador regardless of the official electoral outcomes.

****ALSO*****This Just In********Healthcare workers occupy Cathedral in downtown San Salvador for 28 hours before being violently arrested and detained!!!*****Hear about how you can act in solidarity with detained activists and union leaders********And, get the latest on CAFTA negotiations and what you can do to help STOP IT!
*This will be a bilingual event (Spanish announcement to follow) Unfortunately, space is not wheelchair accessible
