PRESS RELEASE

Sri Sarveshwari Samooh (Sonoma Yoga Ashram) will be hosting a fundraising event for the whole family featuring world renowned poet and scholar Coleman Barks, author of Essential Rumi, and Open Secret: Versions of Rumi, on Wednesday, May 5th, 2004 at the Friedman Center in Santa Rosa. Doors will open for this event at 6:00pm with a pre-show bazaar including food and gifts. The concert begins at 7:30pm.

The concert features a performance by Richard Hite on Sacred Gongs followed by Coleman Barks with an eloquent performance of his modern translations of the 13th century poet Rumi, while being accompanied by Marcus Wise on Tabla and David Whetstone on Sitar.

For those interested in meeting Coleman Barks, a special dining/reception package can be purchased for $150 which includes a gourmet meal with Coleman Barks on Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at the Westerbeke Ranch in Sonoma and front row tickets to the performance on May 5th.

Funds raised from this event will benefit Sri Sarveshwari Samooh’s local ashram located in Sonoma, California, (Sonoma Yoga Ashram), to help continue the renovation of the newly relocated Ashram.

Ticket prices are $25 general seating, $45 for front row seats, and the $150 package. This event is wheel chair accessible. Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.cityboxoffice.com or please call 415-392-4400.
