Arrest of Indymedia videographer
These are photos of a smaller but also violent arrest group, including an IMC videographer. Many people who had been around him confirmed that he had not done anything at all except continuing to film as he crossed market street.

After the first large arrest situation of about 50 people on Market and 5th, the unencircled observers finally took off to march again after about half an hour. They went up Taylor street until they were blocked by a police line by a hotel. As motorcycle reinforcements came, the police started to shove people down the street again. This was in the Tenderloin neighborhood, and there were a lot of poor people and homeless on the streets mixed into this. In this first photo, I was standing in a parking lot behind a fence in order to avoid being pushed. Several people were knocked over bicycles here.

Thanks for these. I followed the band for a time, and
saw one pretty ugly incident involving a cyclist who
I don't think was part of the demo - he crossed through
a police line from behind it on his way downtown just
as the line was forming up. The cops went after him,
clubbed him off his bike, he got back on his bike and
the altercation continued for a few before he escaped.
I have a few photos of that, but by that point the cops
were very clearly out of hand - the march was looking
to crest a hill, and the cops really didn't want it to
crest. Shortly afterwards, the band turned back down
the hill, headed west away from Market, and was bizarrely
rushed by that flying squad of pigs on dirtbikes. They
rode into and then back out of the crowd for no apparent
reason.
I'm looking for my USB cable now, but I'm glad someone
got that second group of arrests on camera. The boys
in blue were out of control. By that point I'd swung back to Market to see what was happening with the first
group of arrestees.

I was on the corner on the opposite side of the street. The kid you see being beaten on was chased down and beaten by up to ten officers for being too loud. He was chased across the street, and then apprehended. Immediately after this, I saw someone out of the corner of my eye pull over one of the cops' bikes. They didn't see who did it, but when they turned around they saw someone running away and i guess decided it would be too much trouble to chase him down, so rather they grabbed, through down, and arrested this IMC videographer who was in the street documenting the beating of the original kid to be chased. I don't think we'll be seeing that footage any time soon, but this is a good example of people getting picked out of the crowd for being too loud, and also the police being worried about documentation of their actions. See you'all back in the streets;->
My daughter and I were standing less than two feet from the kid w/the broken arm. He had been pushed and shoved across the street though he had the right-of-way in the crosswalk. When he got to the corner (and right in front of us, on sidewalk) he turned around, faced the cop that had been shoving him and said "FUCK YOU!" The cop #636 and many others charged and began beating the shit out of him. The person in red sweat pants/red bandana in the following pic was beaton and arrested because they threw their body on top of dude to protect him from the cops.
the bicyclist was beaten mainly for having a picket which no longer had the answer sign on it...he rode with the bikes not bombs contingent most of the day...i don't think that he was intent on violence with this picket...he seemed like an old hippie, but nonetheless the cops attacked him and grabbed him by his hair rather violently...thanks folks for the reports...lets just make sure to try and be witnesses foor these folks and contact the national lawyers guild
I am so tired of our Brothers, Sisters, Mothers, Sons, and Daughters getting beat down to no avail. Being active for two years now on the front lines I feel we need to make tougher choices. The small amount of folks who put their bodies out there for us does nothing. All of us conquering our fears and protecting that person is more change making act in my view. If we all would have been human shields and lay together. What a beautiful and more effective out come. What ever your feelings on my ideas herein we have to be better. Not be happy cause for me a drastic change must take place and I am ready for a full step. The struggle for “class justice” has learned to walk already and its time to take a full step. I welcome comments lets come together thanks for reading.

yah, i was there...the cops were beating us like shit..and people started chucking lil rocks at police motor cycles and this bicycler was biking by, and he was like WTF ARE THEY DOING TO YOU KIDS..WTF...GIMME THAT STICK and he picked it up from the ground and he held it up ( he was like 4 yards away from cops) and another cop jumped on him like a pig tackled him to the ground and beat him...
that guy was a hero
that guy was a hero
That guy who was screaming that his arm was broken wasnt lying. thats my friend and fellow student (a member of the student senate). His arm was definitly broken. He said that when his arm finally snapped and went limp he didnt care because it was at that point that the officers let up and he could finally breathe. In san luis obispo county recently three people were killed by cops (on three seperate occasions) who were being overly aggressive during an arrest and smuthered the life out of them. No cops have been detained in any of the crimes, and i doubt my friend will see any justice anytime soon. I guess justice is one getting abused and murdered by the people who are supposed to protect you.
Hello, my brother Noah Shepardson I and beleive this picture is actully of Noah at the time that his arm was broken
So Noah had no charges pressed, I heard? They let the people here next to him off without charges, who seemed to be trying to divert the police's attention from him.
I had the most difficult time trying to figure out what just happened, even though we were all there. Did you see the video from Mark? It is #5 or #6 in the center column feature, which would show the general positions of people, until they start bending his thumb back to take the camera.

it's very simple...don't resist..don't get any bones broken.
to have your bones broken, or worse, by the police. They are brutal thugs, with no accountability.
