In San Francisco vacant and abandoned buildings which could be used for housing lie empty, while people are sleeping on the streets and in shelters. Homes Not Jails opens these buildings up for squatting and we can help you fix it up and turn it into your home. We ask squatters to operate these homes as collective and cooperative households at the squat. Homes Not Jails is a doit yourself operation, but it is our goal that community we create can support each other and build a community that cares. Squats are usually available at our bi-monthly meeting. Join us in taking action to create more free housing for homeless people. "Take a house- you'll be very happy". Homes Not Jails meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of Every Month at 5:00pm at the Coalition on Homelessness at 468 Turk St in the Tenderloin (Civic Center Bart and Muni).
