Wednesday, June 19, 7:30pm - "Spirit of Pacifica"
The Pacifica Now! Conference and Festival explores the challenges facing Pacifica Radio and the movement that supports it. Highlights include:
* Opening remarks by Tom Ammiano, President, SF Board of Supervisors, and Leslie Cagan, Chair, Interim Pacifica National Board;
* Keynotes on diversity by Professor David Moore, son of Pacifica founder Lew Hill, and Gerald Torres, co-author with Lani Guinier of
The Miner's Canary;
* Discussions on media democracy campaigns, the transformation at Pacifica, diversity and decolonization, and challenges to corporate personhood;
* Songs by the SF Mime Troupe;
* A ritual gathering to "Invite the Return of the Spirit of Pacifica" with Caroline Casey, Dennis Bernstein & Robert Knight of KPFA Radio.
