Closing Remarks
With academics, journalists, and lawyers in mainstream media advocating the legalization of torture, TASSC members believe that an open discussion on the subject of torture is essential. The two-day conference is entitled, On the Question of Torture: An Exchange of Views. The conference, to be held June 25-26, will be part of TASSC\\\\\\\'s 5th annual, week-long commemoration of June 26th, U.N. International Day in Support of Torture Victims and Survivors.
This conference will bring together torture survivors from around the world and individuals from different sectors of society. Invited participants will include persons who advocate the use and legalization of torture and others who are firmly opposed to all forms of torture under any circumstances.
