In May of 1994, Chinese officials arrested Passang Lhamo, for her involvement in peaceful dissidence against the Chinese government. In February of 1995, Chuye Kunsang was also arrested following a peaceful demonstration in Lhasa. Both would be taken to Drapchi Prison and subjected to intense torture and abuse at the hands of prison guards. Both would survive and now both are here to tell their tale. Theirs is a story of brutal political and religious repression. Theirs is a story of countless others still inside Tibet, still inside Drapchi.
Join us to hear Chuye and Passang tell their stories, to support them as torture survivors and to take action against the brutal political and religious oppression in Tibet.
Sponsored by Amnesty International Group 30
Suggested Donation: $10 (all proceeds go to support the nuns tour) (no one turned away for lack of funds.)
