There will still be banners, signs, petitions, and leaflets, but no chants and marches, instead peace activists will pull up chairs and invite people to speak about their feelings and thoughts about the 9/11 tragedy and our government's response. They will write down what people feel and think, and ask, "How do you think we can defuse terrorism?" and "How can we make a safer, better world for our children, all children?" and “Do you think attacking Iraq will make anyone safer?”
To defuse violence and anger, listening is a very powerful non-violent technique. Appreciative inquiry, encourages creative thought towards realizing higher human goals; when people can engage their creativity in helping to solve world problems, they feel empowered, energized and can actually accomplish a great deal."
We will wear blue triangles with the name of one of the newly
"disappeared". In the early 1940's, German Nazis used many different colored
triangles to categorize and divide people in the concentration camps. We will show our solidarity for those who are being targeted and oppressed today in the "War on Terrorism." We will not allow the same kind of profiling to happen here. We will wear a
blue triangle in a positive way to show our solidarity with those being
targeted today.
A report on the marches to demand a Congressional Inquiry of 9-11 can be found at http://www.communitycurrency.org/9-11, participants of the march will be speaking at today’s event.
