Training Convergence for Biotech Actions

In June, the biotech industry will be having its largest annual conference
in, guess where? San Francisco! Sponsored by Monsanto, among others. What
are they thinking of? you might ask. They clearly aren¹t thinking that
local activists will create a mobilization that will both make the word
Œbiotech¹ synonymous with fear and loathing, AND pose such attractive and
positive alternatives that revolution will become irresistable.

We want to make this mobilization a model of how to organize, build
coalitions, and do effective, empowering, capacity- building outreach. Our
plan is to send outreach teams around the Bay Area and throughout the state,
to offer weekend convergences that include biotech basics, training in
direct action, affinity group formation, facilitation and consensus, an
introduction to permaculture, and whatever others skills or subjects a
community may request.

But we need you to make this happen. If you have experience in direct
action, OR permaculture, OR facilitation, consensus, media, organizing, etc.
and want to share your skills on an outreach team, either in the Bay Area or
beyond, please come to the training convergence Feb. 15 at St. Boniface
Church in San Francisco to help us cocreate the trainings and the teams.

Skillshare, Training for Trainers and Cocreation of Outreach Teams

Share tools and processes from the trainers¹/facilitators¹ toolbox, design
agendas, and practice presenting material to design an outreach program that
can inspire and empower people for the June actions and other upcoming
direct actions. Improve your skills at creating effective agendas and
workshops. Begin forming and scheduling outreach teams.
