Screening of "Ora Pro Nobis" (Fight For Us) with report on the Philippines by members of Bayan and ILPS (Int’l League of Peoples’ Struggle).
Lino Brocka’s "Ora Pro Nobis" is an angry film, rooted in the broken promises of the Aquino era. The main character, a former priest and ex-political prisoner, sets out to investigate reports of human rights abuses by anti-communist citizens committees. He gradually discovers that the complicity between the army and groups of vigilantes that existed in the days of the Marcos dictatorship is still very much intact. The story is based on actual events documented in a 1988 human rights report. 1989, 92m, Tagalog with English subtitles. $5 donation.
This is part of the ongoing ANSWER Film Series. Contact 415-821-6545 or answer@actionsfbay.org for details.
