The Zapatista communities are constructing another world; a world where all worlds fit. After the Mexican government failed to implement the signed peace accords, the communities decided to implement them anyway and, in August of this year, announced a regional system of autonomous governance. The Chiapas Support Committee sent a delegation to explore these changes. On December 3, we report back on this advance in indigenous autonomy. Slides, Video and Analysis of the new regional indigenous councils (the Good Government Juntas), refugee camps, Montes Azules, Plan Puebla-Panama. Also, Special Presentation on the Zapatistas in Cancun.
This event is in solidarity with the International Celebration by Rebel Magazine: Campaña 20 & 10, EZLN, Fire and Word, celebrating the EZLN’s 20th Birthday and the 10 year Anniversary of the Chiapas Uprising.
