6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Event Type:

Location Details:
City Hall Plaza 250 Hamilton Ave Palo Alto

Peninsula Peace and Justice Center is organizing a rally and vigil in remembrance of International Human Rights Day, which will begin at 6:00 pm on December 10th, the 55th anniversary of the signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Activists and community members will gather to rally against war, occupation, and attacks on civil liberties. The activist community finds it is especially important in light of the Bush administration’s continuing commitment to an imperialist agenda to reaffirm one of the central tenets of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, that “the will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government.” Featured speakers will include human rights activists who have just returned from the Middle East and are touring the nation on the “Wheels of Justice” bus, educating the public about the realities of war and occupation in Iraq and Palestine and speaking for justice and universal human rights. The Wheels of Justice tour is sponsored by Voices in the Wilderness, Middle East Childrens Alliance, and the Palestine Right to Return Coalition, and will be making several stops in the Bay Area in early December. Music will be provided by \"George Shrub\", the world\'s only singing CIA agent.
