Time:
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Organizer/Author:
Peace Action of San Mateo County
Location Details:
Unitarian Universalists Meeting Hall, 300 E. Santa Inez at North Ellsworth in San Mateo. Free street parking is available and the building is handicapped accessible.

Menotti will speak on WTO, the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA), the FTAA meeting taking place in Miami, Nov. 17-21, and the relationship of U.S. foreign policy to terrorism. Menotti is Director of the Environment Program at the International Forum on Globalization (IFG), a network of researchers, economists, writers, and activists from over 30 countries formed to stimulate public debate on the many consequences of economic globalization. Menotti's work has focused on unifying the leadership of environment, labor, and human rights organizations to address globalization's impacts, as well as working closely with emerging international networks of farming, fishing, and forest communities. The FTAA (sometimes referred to as NAFTA on steroids) is opposed by the AFL-CIO, Global Exchange, Citizens Trade Campaign and many other environmental and human rights groups. Refreshments will be served; donations appreciated. For more information on FTAA: http://www.globalexchange.org/campaigns/ftaa/ http://www.sanmateopeaceaction.org/
