Melody Ermachild Chavis will read from the first-ever biography of MEENA, HEROINE OF AFGHANISTAN, THE MARTYR WHO FOUNDED RAWA, THE REVOLUTIONARY ASSOCIATION OF THE WOMEN OF AFGHANISTAN on Tuesday, November 18th, 7:30 PM, at EASY GOING TRAVEL BOOKSTORE, 1385 Shattuck Ave, Berkeley. This reading is free to the public.
The story of MEENA's remarkable life and the work of RAWA inspires people the world over. Meena founded RAWA in 1977 as a 20-year-old Kabul University student. She was assassinated by fundamentalists in 1987 at age 30. Her voice, speaking for democracy and human rights, has never been silenced. All author's proceeds from the book will be donated to RAWA's medical and educational projects.
