Book Launch Party for Lenore Kandel's 'The Love Book' 'The Love Book', a slim chapbook of erotic poetry, was banned in 1965 in California. Three booksellers, including two at City Lights, were arrested for selling it, and were put on trial. The trial went all the way to the state supreme court, where the ban was upheld. It was later rescinded in 1974. 'The Love Book' is now back in print, after 35 years. It is a hand-letterpressed chapbook with hand-stitched binding and a newly designed 3-color cover. The launch party will include a short presentation and slide show by publisher Joe Pachinko. Snacks will be served, and there is no cover charge.
