Please join Radical Women at "Revolutionary Resistance: Young Women Activists Speak Out!", an event commemorating Women's Rights Day, the anniversary of U.S. women winning the right to vote, on Sunday, August 24.
83 years after the suffragist movement won voting rights for U.S. women, Bay Area feminist youth continue the fight against gender oppression, as well as racist repression, ecological poisoning, and the open-ended "war on terrorism."
Join this dynamic new generation of leaders and discuss strategies for beating back the Bush attack, ending inequality, restoring civil liberties and environmental sanity, and sparking global change.
Speakers include:
Annie Sayo, Filipina lesbian leader of Voices Rising, San Jose State's anti-war coalition
Lily Uonovak, youth leader from Bayview Hunters Point with Literacy for Environmental Justice
Norma M. Gallegos, Xicana feminist, middle school tutor and Radical Women activist
Anita O'Shea, event chair, queer zine author and Free Radio Santa Cruz host
The event takes place Sunday, August 24 at 2:00pm at New Valencia Hall, 1908 Mission Street in San Francisco (at 15th Street, near 16th Street BART and on #14 and #49 Muni lines). Door donation, sliding scale $2-5. A summer BBQ buffet will be served at 1:00pm for a $6.50 donation. Everyone is welcome!
