Interested in learning Independent Radio Production Skills? Interested in working to
stop the growing Prison Industrial Complex?
Volunteer for the National Radio Project’s Prison Desk
Our Mission:
We are committed to raising public awareness around the injustices of the Prison Industrial Complex through the dissemination of free and equitable information. Featuring voices rarely heard in the mainstream media, the Prison Desk focuses on the stories and perspectives of those directly effected and fighting against the prisons in the Unites States as well as worldwide.
As a volunteer, what would I do?
We are currently looking for volunteers to assist in all aspects of producing the upcoming Prison Desk radio shows. Your help is needed:
* researching and conducting interviews
* transcribing and editing tape
* tabling at political events
* assisting around the office.
The Incentive:
Beyond the obvious merit of strengthening your involvement with a grassroots media organization committed to social justice education, we offer training in radio broadcast journalism in exchange for your volunteer hours. Learn professional interviewing, field recording, digital editing, and fundraising skills.
What are you waiting for, Get Involved:
If you, one of your colleagues, or friends has as little as an evening a week to dedicate to doing quality social justice work, please take the opportunity to attend our first volunteer meeting.
Our First Volunteer Meeting Will Take Place
Tuesday, July 15 from 6:30-8:00 pm
at the National Radio Project office and studio
1904 Franklin St. Suite 415
Downtown Oakland
