Memorial for Kevin Lee Freeman
People will gather at People's Park at 11am and march at noon to the Berkeley Fellowship.
Kevin Lee Freeman was a well known Telegraph Ave. homeless person who was jailed for a misdemeanor and put in a cell with someone who needed serious psychiatric care.
"He was extremely intelligent," said his daughter Laksmi Lagares of Oakland, who only saw her father occasionally and grew up mostly with her grandmother. "He was pretty close to a genius IQ when he was tested as a young man. He came out to California when he was a student, got caught up in the ways of the world and never really came back. But he wasn't a bad guy."
