The Tonic of Wildness
In celebration of Pride Month, the San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band presents a concert on wilderness and fantasy. Conducted by Artistic Director Jadine Louie, the concert features David Gillingham’s tribute to the Seminole Nation, Council Oak. Program also includes Mendelssohn’s Fingal’s Cave Overture, Percy Grainger’s Ye Banks & Braes O’ Bonnie Doon, John Williams’ Harry Potter Suite, Leroy Anderson’s Bugler’s Holiday and Curnow’s Canticle of the Creatures. The Tonic of Wildness is performed Friday, June 20 (8:15 pm) at Bethany United Methodist Church, 1268 Sanchez Street @ Clipper in San Francisco. Admission free.
The Tonic of Wildness is the second installment of the 2003 Community Concert Series of the San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band, the world’s first openly GLBTIQQ music organization in the world.
