George Mann & Julius Margolin/CAMINANTE In Concert at First Unitarian Saturday, May 10 at 8 PM. First Unitarian Universalist Society of SF, 1877 Franklin St. A Concert of Labor and Peace Songs. Labor and peace activists George Mann & Julius Margolin (from NYC) and SF-based CAMINANTE (Liliana, Rafael, and Francisco Herrera) come together for a two-hour concert. This concert will be held in the chapel, and both groups will perform two sets. Suggested donation $5-$10, all welcome regardless of donation. CAMINANTE, Liliana, Rafael and Francisco Herrera have dedicated their music to social change for years, performing in the service of labor struggles as well as human rights in the U.S. and Latin America. They blend traditional Mexican and Latin American folk with U.S. folk influenced by jazz and blues. Francisco was also featured on the "Hail to the Thief! Songs for the Bush Years" CD. George Mann and Julius Margolin are members of the New York City Labor Chorus and sing throughout the country. They play their guitars and ask you to sing along to folk and labor classics and their own songs too. Julius is a former CIO organizer and longtime union activist in his 80s, and George a rock musician turned folksong writer. They produced the CD “Hail to the Thief! Songs for the Bush Years,” and their new CD, “Just A Few Bad Apples” has just been released. Join these two groups for a wonderful night of folk music. http://www.georgeandjulius.com
