from June 23-25 trade ministers from all around the world will be meeting in Sacramento, CA. at the invitation of US Agriculture Secretary Anne Veneman. (http://www.fas.usda.gov/icd/stconf/conf_main.htm) This WTO-level meeting is designed to promote the biotech agenda in preparation for this fall's WTO ministerial meeting in Cancún, Mexico. Ministers invited from over 180 nations will be there promoting genetically engineering and other biotech technologies, along with free trade. The U.S. Agency for International Development and Department of State are jointly sponsoring the event with USDA. This conference will be a large step in forcing the United States' biotech and free trade agendas on the rest of the world. Come to the long haul infoshop on Thursday to help organize against this meeting. Seattle '99 brought the WTO into the national spotlight, let's keep the pressure up on the WTO. Let's also bring genetically modified foods into the national spotlight.
