Lecture "Is it Madness to Care about Mad Cow Disease in America?" by Dr. Michael Greger, M.D.
Come hear Dr. Michael Greger, M.D. explain, in an entertaining yet informative style, the real story about the public health implications here and abroad of Mad Cow Disease and its human form, variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, as well as the role of modern animal agribusiness in the coming crisis.
The American beef industry continues to risk public safety and the USDA remains complacent, protecting business interests over those of the consumer.
Light refreshments at noon, presentation starts at 12:30. Free. Sliding scale donation of $2-$5 appreciated to help pay for Dr. Greger's travel expenses & refreshments appreciated. However, no one turned away for lack of funds. RSVPs not required, but helpful to plan for refreshments.
Sponsored by SF Bay Area Vegetarians, a bay area wide group for veggies & folks interested in vegetarianism. Planned monthly activities, and free membership. Join us! http://www.generationv.org/sfbaveg
