Location Details:
Come To The Steering Committee Meeting At 1pm Bethany United Methodist Church 1268 Sanchez Street (At Clipper) San Francisco

1pm steering committee 2pm general meeting WHAT NEXT FOR THE ANTIWAR MOVEMENT? The Feb. 15th and 16th world-wide united actions against the war have proven that unity and solidarity of action brings the most people out into the streets! We must build even stronger bonds of unity in the future. This Saturday, Feb. 22, at 1pm at our steering committee we will be entertaining ideas and proposals for how to be as effective as possible to stop this war. At 2pm the general meeting will discuss and vote on steering committee proposals as well as proposals that might come up at the general meeting. All decisions will be based on majority rule, one person, one vote. There are emergency plans in case of war, work stoppages, and mass actions. Should we all wear black arm bands if war breaks out? We have not tapped into the vast majority of youth who are faced with a future of shrinking job opportunities and more expensive educational opportunities. Organizing a "Jobs Not Bombs" contingent of the movement to demand meaningful jobs and more educational opportunities instead of spending trillions on death and mayhem could bring a giant resource of young, working class kids of all ethnic backgrounds into the movement. Other antiwar "contingents" to the movement could form linking many issues related to this war, our shrinking economy, violence in our society, and the dismantling of our civil rights and liberties to name but a few. We want to reach out to community, church, labor, and issue based and all ethnic groups to join us. We want to reach out to Arab, Jewish, Catholic, Protestant, Muslim and Palestinian groups and all religious communities to join our efforts. There are proposals for benefits and teach-ins, conferences and a myriad of other exciting ideas.
