"Takin' On What's Goin' On: An African Community
Conference to Unite Our Struggles!," will take place on Saturday, October 6, 2001 from noon to 6pm, at the Uhuru House at 7911 Mac Arthur Blvd in Oakland sponsored by the Oakland branch of the International People's Democratic Uhuru Movement. All allies of the black community are invited to attend and participate.
The conference will feature a keynote presentation by Omali Yeshitela, leader and founder of the Uhuru Movement as well as a presentation by Chimurenga Waller, president of the International People's Democratic Uhuru Movement who will have returned from
the United Nations World Conference Against Racism. Other presentations will include those by Jervis Muwaakkil, the father of Jamil Muwaakill, and lawyers, community members and activists from Books not Bars and Youth Against Cops in the Schools and the West County Toxics Coalition.
